Alger County, in relation to other US counties, is small. But, we are a vibrant community that works together to make life here better. Through community, focus, and appropriate action we live life to our fullest.
Alger Conservation District supports the land, water, agriculture, forests, and wilderness areas. Preserving and protecting our natural resources provides life-sustaining generational security to our community.
Every action makes a positive difference in our community's goals. Here, you can discover many ways to help the community and contribute to preserving our community’s natural resources.

All charitable donations are welcome. We want to extend our deep gratitude for your support; however you can provide it. Please only give what you are comfortable giving. Thank you.
Below are alternatives to volunteering; these actions support the community and our mission.
Many grants in Alger County require small machinery such as chainsaws, trailers, drills, and many other items to complete the work required. Donating these items can reduce the cost of these vital community projects for years.
On our more extensive projects, we outsource the use of heavy equipment. If you have rented these items before, you understand they can carry a substantial cost. Sometimes, we borrow equipment from a landowner, but sometimes this is impossible.
We often purchase nails, lumber, soil, signage, posts, and other field work-related supplies. Consider donating these materials. Do you have materials to donate?
If you have been to our workshops before, great! Then, you know we typically provide water snacks on occasion, or at the annual meeting and other more significant events, we even offer food.
If you can not join us for field work, consider donating your knowledge to the community!
Over the years, the Alger Conservation District has been endowed with land from townships and private citizens. Today, one of these parcels is known as Chatham Community Gardens. We strive to preserve and improve the community by accepting and conserving these donations for the community.
As a non-funded state government office, monetary donations to assist our mission are encouraged,
and welcomed. Thank you for your support.
