Alger Conservation District has partnered with our local schools for a brand-new and exciting
‘Conservation Art Contest’.
This contest will have students competing to create a nature-focused t-shirt design to be showcased locally in Alger County. Student artwork will be featured across two age groups (K-6th grade and 7th-12th grade), and their original designs will cover topics such as healthy soil, bird conservation, pollinator protection, and more. Once the finalist designs are chosen from each school, it will be up to you, the residents of Alger County, to vote for the winning designs!
The student’s artwork will be showcased at the Alger Conservation District’s 66th Annual Conservation Celebration and Board Election, held on Friday, March 20th, at 5 PM at Gallery Coffee in Munising.
Join in the fun today and see all the amazing artwork from our local schools!
After the votes have been counted and a winner in each age group has been identified, the winning designs will be made into t-shirts and sold on the Alger Conservation District’s website for pre-order and during Tree Sale pickup day on May 9th.
The profits raised from this contest and sales will be used for a conservation-focused project of the school’s choice in partnership with the District.

All entries must be received by February 15th. To learn the rules of the contest, please click here.
County residents can vote on their favorite design beginning on February 21st, 2026. Votes can be done on the Alger Conservation District website, or in-person at the 66th Annual Conservation Celebration and Annual Meeting at Gallery Coffee on March 20th, 2026, at 5pm (Register Now).
Voting will close on March 20th, 2026 following the end of the Conservation Celebration.
Whichever student design has the most county votes, wins!
The prizes will be awarded as such:
Grades Kindergarten to 6th-
Grand Prize (First Place): Prize pack including at-home science kits and books, young readers' field guides, bird feeders, binoculars, and more.
Second place: $100 gift card from Downwind Sports
Third place: $50 gift card from Downwind Sports
Grades 7th- 12th-
Grand Prize (First Place): Prize pack including at-home science kits and books, young readers' field guides, bird feeders, binoculars, and more.
Second place: $100 gift card from Downwind Sports
Third place: $50 gift card from Downwind Sports
You must be a resident of Alger County to participate and vote in this contest.
All District staff, board members, bonified program partners, and their family's are not eligible to participate in submitting art or cast a vote.
Each household may vote, up to, 4 times. Voting can be done on the District website, or in-person at the Conservation Celebration. Voting will begin February 21st, 2026!
