Resident Natural Resource Survey | NOW OPEN

As a locally funded, educational, non-enforcement agency, Alger Conservation District is genuinely at your service. We thank you for your support as we continue delivering on our community's natural resource mission in the upcoming years.

Our mission is to provide sound natural resource management assistance to the residents of Alger County. Our team delivers positive results for residents through free educational workshops, partner-funded assistance programs, and regional cooperative action to conserve and restore natural resources in Alger County.

Natural Resources Management Since 1959

Alger County, Michigan

Alger County is home to over 8,200 residents, has the largest freshwater area in Michigan, and is the only county with a National Lakeshore. According to census information, 81% of land in Alger County is privately owned and managed. Alger Conservation District is a specialized state government branch established in 1959. We support the community by assisting and educating landowners in the stewardship of their natural resources.

District Mission

To provide sound natural resource management assistance to the residents of Alger County.

Conservation Values

We believe engagement, participation, and service create lasting effectiveness in our communities’ natural resources. Our commitment to integrity, appropriate action, education, and inclusiveness fosters program relevancy and lasting effectiveness for all of Alger County.
